Lecce were shocked but almost restored their lead in a frantic ten minutes, Nenad Tomovic dummied and waited to play in Grossmuller but the Uruguayan placed his shot too close to Muslera.
Normal tempo resumed as the game settled back down but Lazio had their chances, Cristian Ledesma and Brocchi both driving for goal but Lecce continued to threaten on the break. Stephan Lichtsteiner recovering superbly on his 100th Serie A appearance to deny Daniele Corvia.
72 minutes gone and the threat became real. Lazio were asleep at the back following a corner which struck the post and Lecce moved the ball with speed. A low cross found Grossmuller at the far post with the easiest of tasks, slotting his sidefoot shot into the bottom corner.
Lecce should have put the game out of reach in the 83rd minute. A scramble in the box saw the visitors hit the bar and have the ball cleared off the line twice but Lazio some how survived thanks to efforts of Giuseppe Biava.
Lecce's victory lifts them to within a point of leaping out the relegation zone, while Lazio's blushes were saved by Udinese's draw at San Siro against Milan.
